Biography
Chris Moritz is an M&A executive, lawyer, and General Counsel at a global investment firm with offices in New York and Sydney. His career includes roles at Blackstone and as Vice President of Cross-Border M&A in Shanghai from 2016-2018, where he served as the senior-most Western executive at a leading Chinese state-owned investment bank. Chris has led billion-dollar cross-border deals with corporations across France, Germany, China, Israel, the UK, and the U.S.
From 2019-2020, under the Trump administration, Chris served as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce, influencing policies on foreign investments, national security, and energy. He contributed to Executive Orders protecting U.S. biogenetic data and advising against U.S. investments in Chinese military-linked companies. Post-administration, Chris has advised SPACs and clients on geopolitical risks, including Huawei-related cybersecurity and I.P. security.
Chris earned his J.D. from NYU and an MPhil from Cambridge, specializing in British policy post-Ottoman Empire. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. Chris is also a writer on topics ranging from public affairs to markets and culture.
